Kantha Kolam Quilt

Based on intricate, geometric designs of the ancient South Indian artform, “kolam”, the quilted central design begins as a 7 x 7 grid of dots. Concentric lotus petals emerge as dots are connected symmetrically. Traditional “kantha” patchwork, another Indian artform often created by rural crafters, adorns each corner.

Fluttering Floral Fantasy

Delicate flowers and butterflies were created using raw-edge applique on a pale green background which was then quilted intensely with leaves, vines, plumes and pebbles. Colorful rhinestones enhanced the flowers, adding sparkle to the appliqued petals.
